sons, Dagman has guided the USO mens' squads to six sets of medals at the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships: two bronze, two silver, and two gold. In a gold medal P.C.R.C. performance in 1994, Dagman's varsity four set a course record of six minutes and twenty-five seconds. Dagman was named to the USO post in 1992 after serving as senior assistant coach at UCLA from 1986-91. He earned three varsity letters as an oarsman for the Bruins (1982-85), receiving the team's Most Valuable Oarsman Award in 1984. Dagman is currently serving as the President of the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association as well as serving as the southwest representative for the Men's Olym– pic Rowing Committee. were gold medal wi nners at the San Diego City Champion– ships. In the 1994-95 season the eight and four repeated gold medal performances at Ci ty Championships. Addi– tionally, the women's eight had a nearly undefeated dual season, losing only once to UCLA in regular-season com– petition. Crain has a rich rowing history. A native Califor– nian, she spent three seasons w ith the UCLA Bruins (1986- 88), during which she was named to the Pac-10 All-Confer– ence Team as well as earn ing the titles of UCLA's Most Valuable Oarswoman and Outstanding Bruin Athlete in 1988. Crain went on to train and compete with the U.S. National Team in 1988 and 1990. Athletics San Diego is a member of the West Coast Confer– ence (WCC) and competes in 16 intercollegiate sports on the NCAA Division I level. Men's sports include: crew, baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, football, soccer and tennis. Women's sports include: crew, bas– ketball, cross country, soccer, softball, swimming, ten– nis and volleyball. In the past four seasons, six USD teams have advanced to NCAA Tournaments.

Nov. 10 7 a.m. *denotes women's meet only; #denotes men's meet only 1996 OUTLOOK Newport Autumn Festival USO Crew, entering its 17th varsity season, continues to prosper among the elite west coast programs while making its mark on the national scene. Brooks Dagman is restocking his program with a mix of veteran rowers such as Olympic Festival medalists Daniel Tealdi and Warner Bonner, along with several promising young rowers from last season's PCRC silver medalist Novice program. With the mens roster set at thirty athletes, the selection process for the top two eights will be very intense this season. Both the varsity and novice women's squads showed early success in the pre-season, both finishing second at the 1995 Newport Autumn Rowing Festival, beating teams from USC, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego, Long Beach State, UC Irvine, UCLA, and San Diego State, among others. The varsity team returns starters in Lysanne Ray, Stacy Bunten, and Jennifer Varsak. Senior Michele Nowicki rejoins the squad after sitting out the 1995 sea– son due to injury. Filling out the varsity squad are jun– iors Jennifer Babic and Dale Amorosia, sophomores Kristen Petersen, Colleen Roach, and Stephanie Sirvent, and freshmen Amber Himes, Lindsay Thomas and Anne Maas.

BOATHOUSE/ACAD.SUPPORT USD crew teams row out of the Coggeshall Rowing Center, a state-of-the-art facility located just 10 minutes from USD on Mission Bay. USO Rowing has access to a modern weight room as well, complete with Concept II erogmeters, Nautilus and free-weight equipment. Outside the classroom, academic support is offered to USD student-athletes with tutoring and counseling services available in addition to a computer lab. Academics USO enrolls more than 6,400 sutdents who have a choice of more than 50 undergradate and graduate de– gree programs. The University includes the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Schools of Business Admin– istration, Education, Law and Nursing. Class size gen– erally averages between 10-30 students with the stu– dent to teacher ratio being 18:1 . Over 96 percent of USD's full-time faculty hold doctorates. The Campus The USD campus is one of the most architecturally unique institutions found in the country, featuring 18 major buildings designed in an ornamental 16th cen– tury Spanish Renaissance style. In the last decade USD has completed eight major construction and expansion projects. In 1990, the renovated Katherine M. and George M. Pardee Jr. Legal Reserach Center opened, a facility double the size of the former law library that offers the latest in information technology.
