"Nothing Too Much" "Just take a look at the young people h ere ,and see if they are not I worth while and deserving," said :Bishop Buddy. Leaders Present ,, Also in attendance was a large group of priests from the city and county of San Diego, as well as the following prominent Catholic leader s in the drive: Nicholas J. Martin, KSG, chairman for San Diego County; Alphonse E. Gan- , ah!, chairman for Riverside Coun- ty; Commander William F. Ma- hedy, USNR, Mrs. Fred Gloor, I Roy F itzgerald, LeRoy Goodbody, Dr. John J. Prendergast, and Alvin A. Weigel. Highlights of the afternoon were vocal presentations by Miss An- toinette Petracich, Mr. Raymond J. McMahon and Miss Socorro Carreno. The All-City Par~hial school band and St. Augustine's High school band participated in the musical program. Summing up his intrest in the campaign and rally, Mr. Donald B. Smith said: "I think this is a wonderful thing for the city and county of San Diego. I believe th1e extensive program will be one step further in our plan to malce this a cultural and educational center. "Catholic education, particular- ly today when t he world is pretty much topsy-turvy, is a great thing," Pat O'Brien stat ed. "Rock- ne did everything he could wit hin his own po\,·er for youth. That is why all of t his is so important.'' Lauds Cause Pat O'Brien por trayed the fa- mous Coach Rockne in ''The F our Horsemen of Notre Dame." H e said, "The building of a school for boys t o bear his name is a project that is naturally very close t o m y heart."
