Rockne Institute Work Started Construction of the Knute Rockne Institute of Technical Arts has been started on 80 acres of land owned by the San Diego Catholic Diocese near El Cajon, it was announced yesterday by Alfred F. Henderson, University Foundation Fund Cam- paign Director. The new school will combine the facilities of a Boys' Town with those of a technical arts high school Students of any religion will be eligible to attend, Henderson said. Training courses will be of- fered in agriculture, carpentry, cooking, auto mechanics, plumbing, electricity and other crafts. "The Rockne Institute will not be a school for delinquents," Hender- son emphasized. "Its purpose is to enable boys who become disinter- ested in high school to prepare f 1· themselves for useful citizenship • by becoming skilled in fields for ? which they have natural aptitudes." .-------------1
