SHELLEY SHEETZ Assistant Coach
Shelley Sheetz brings All-American honors and professional playing experience to the Torero staff as a third year assistant under Head Coach Kathy Marpe. Shelley's major responsibility is as the recruiting coordinator for USD in addition to coaching the guards, scouting, pre– season conditioning, and practice planning.
Sheetz who played college basketball at the University of Colorado from 1991-1995, is the first ever Kodak All-America in Colorado's school history. The Big Eight Freshman of the Year in 1992,
Sheetz earned All Big Eight and Big Eight Tournament honors in her junior and se– nior season. As a senior, Sheetz guided the Buffalos to a school record 25 game winning streak and her team finished 14- 0 in the Big Eight Conference. After Sheetz guided Colorado to the Elite Eight for the second time in her career, the Conference selected her as the 1995 Female Athlete of the Year. Sheetz was named All-America by Kodak, Associated Press, and U.S. Basketball Writers Asso– ciation, and was a finalist for the Naismith Award. The state of Colorado honored her as the Sports Woman of the Year in 1993 and 1995. When her career at Colo– rado ended, Sheetz became the Colorado and Big Eight leader of three-point bas– kets made at 252, Colorado's second all– time points leader with 1,755, and sec– ond all-time leader in assists with 514-.

At the end of her collegiate career, Sheetz played professionally for Wuppertal, Ger–
many, the Colorado Xplosion, and the Portland Power in the American Basketball League. Origi– nally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sheetz was elected into the Iowa High School Hall of Fame in 1996. Sheetz began her coaching career in the Northwest, as an assistant at Washington State University.
