Under McEl- vain's guidance, 39 student-athletes have earned All-Academic honors including 27 student-athletes award~ ed PCSC Commissioner's Honor Roll honors, one PCSC Scholar Athlete of the Year, and a National Academic All-American 3rd Team (Sara Mason). Since the 2005-06 season, McElvain and the team have upheld a 1 OOo/o NCAA academic progress rating. In 2007... Coach "Mac" has made huge strides as she guided the Toreros to a record setting 2007 season. The graduating class last season (Virginia Fritsch, Christina Haake, Alicia Massei, Dani– elle Treiber) tied or set new records in 12 different single season or career categories. The 2008 senior class is set to leave their mark by the end of the new season. As a team San Diego accomplished 20 divi~ sion one wins. They also recorded 24 overall wins, the most since the 2000 season. Coach McElvain also hit the century mark with her 100th career victory as head coach at USD on April 16th in an extra-inning vic– tory over Santa Clara.

The 2006 season was more proof that the USD softball program is turning the corner and transform– ing the team into a competitive Division I program that could battle for that sought after bid to post sea- son thanks to the efforts of Coach McElvain. In 2006, San Diego cap- tu red 22 wins for the first time since 2001 . That year, USD also accom- plished 18 division one wins. The Toreros also posted ten conference wins, the most in McElvain's history as the skipper for San Diego. In 2005... In 2005, McElvain 's season was highlighted by the program's first ever victory over cross-town rival San Diego State, defeating the Az– tecs 2-0 in an extraordinary extra inning game. Another first was a four-game sweep in conference over Saint Mary's College. Playing Days... A 1999 graduate ofOklahoma State, McElvain (formerly Turley) earned All-Big XII honors while playing
