MEET THE SBA PRESIDENT 3L Logan Quessenberry keeps community at the forefront of USD Law

❱❱ Logan Quessenberry once imagined a future in music as a concert tuba player. Then, a UCLA mock trial inten sive he attended in high school changed everything. “I fell in love with that style of advocacy,” he noted. “I thought I would help people through music until I realized it wasn’t enough for me.” A San Diego native, Quessenberry graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California but returned home for law school. Drawn to USD’s sense of connection, he reflected, “After that first campus visit, I could see myself here.” At USD Law, he found a sense of belonging through hands-on work in the Immigration Law Clinic, spend ing two semesters on U visa matters and contributing to a successful asylum case. “It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had as a person, let alone as a law student,” he said, noting how direct client work not only sharpened his skills and underscored the importance of legal services, but also the importance of collaboration. Quessenberry brought that mindset to the Student Bar Association (SBA), serving as secretary before step ping into the presidency. Guided by mentors, including former SBA president Sophie Parker ’25 (JD), Professor Justin Brooks and Dean Robert A. Schapiro, he set out to strengthen communication with the administration and build bridges to the wider University through shared events and resources. One initiative, a spring Law Student Night with USD Athletics, is designed to bring law students into the broader campus community. After graduation, Quessenberry plans to pursue public criminal defense in San Diego while maintaining an interest in immigration practice. Asked for a favorite USD Law memory, he points to a pattern rather than a moment: sustained support from faculty and staff. “That commitment makes it easier to participate, to be heard and to belong,” he shared.
