-Exceptional athlete, one of the fastest players in the WCC -Made a game-saving diving catch to insure USO of its first ever NCAA Regional victory (6- 1-02) -Reached base at a 43% rate, 2nd-highest among any Torero in '03 -Award-winning football player (return specialist) during a four- year USO football career Junior in 2004 Utilized 34 times off the bench , by far th e most appearances as a sub by any player in the WCC.. Doubled twice and scored 14 times in 27 official at-bats .. . Drove in six runs and stole a pair of bases... Made six starts in the outfield , including back-to-back starts against No. 5 Texas and No. 23 Washington ... Went 2-for-4, with a stolen base and two runs scored at Texas (2-8-04)... Hit a two-RBI double in one at-bat against WCC rival Gon- zaga (5-8-04)... Also doubled and scored at Loyola Marymount (3-7-04). Sophomore in 2003 Very fast runner and excellent defensive outfielder.. Proved to be an extremely difficult out... Posted a .320 batting average over 50 at-bats.. Got on base at a 43% rate, second-highest among any Torero in 2003.. Used mainly as a reserve, starting in nine games over the course of the season... In the nine games he did start, Ng totaled 11 hits in 34 at-bats (.323 BA)... Doubled and knocked in a ca reer-high three runs against Cal Poly SLO (2-26-03)... Played in 36 games as sub, by far the highest on the team . Freshman in 2002 Came up with a game-saving diving catch in left field during the late innings of USD's 2-1 NCAA Regional victory over New Mexico State (6-1-02) .. Left-handed batter, used as a pinch runner and outfielder. Prep Prepped at Mililani High School in Honolulu, Hawaii... Lettered in baseball , football and track... As a baseball player, Ng was named first team all-state as a senior... Earned first team all conference as a junior... Led the Mililani Trojans to a runner-up fin ish in conference play as a senior... As a footba ll player Ng was named a two time team MVP and was a first team all-state performer at running back and defensive back. Personal Born on August 6, 1982 in Honolulu , Hawaii ... Son of Donald and Laverne Ng.. Father, Donald, played football at Linfield (Ore.).. Last name in pronounced ING (Ng).

Junior in 2004 Earned a spot on the Toreros' everyday roster in late April and made three starts in May... Drove in three runs in 11 at-bats... Appeared in a total of 12 games... Reg istered his first hit for USO against Gonzaga (5-8-04). Prep/College Attended San Diego's Mesa CC and St. Augustine High School ... Was twice named a First Team All-Pacific Coast League outfielder at Mesa .. Hit .390 overall and .455 in league play as a junior college freshman .. Invited to play in the junior college all-star game after batting .345 as a collegiate sophomore. Personal Born on February 11 , 1983 in San Diego, California... Son of Tom and Pam Merritt. .. Also recruited by UC Riverside, UCSD, Sonoma State and Drexel. .. Chose to attend USO for the great academics and the baseball program... Also earned all league honors while playing football at St. Au– gustine High School.
