LIFE ABOVE THE RIM
USD women's basketball was 6 and 7 in the WCC. They closed out the 1993-94 season meeting the University of San Francisco Dons in San Francisco. Their hopes fora WCC Tournament bid turned sour with a 63-80 loss at Portland. USD was not able to defend its WCC Tourna– ment title, which sent the Toreros to the NCAA Tournament last season. There will be two USD student-ath– letes greatly missed next year. Senior forwardJillShaver, WCCTourneyMVP, , and senior guard Melisa Sortino. Shaver is ranked as USD's third all-time leading scorer and fifth all-time leading rebounder. Sortino ranks second in ca– reer three-pointers made.
Vicki de Jesus and Serena Biermann gave Coach Marpe a solid perimeter shooting game.
