COLLEGE REPUBLICANS The College Republicans are going into their second year of conservative activ– ism on campus. The goal of this organi– zation is to link USD students with the Republican Party by attending party conventions, conferences, and meetings, aiding candidates at all levels of govern– ment, andbringing speakers to campus. In a very successful year, the organi– zation brought speakers such as FredBarnes, R. Emmett Tyrrell, Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham, and Robert Novak. They also provided most volunteers in last year's campaign and attended threee Republican conven– tions . For these acomplishemts, the club was awarded "Best New Club". Through this organization, members have met such people as Governor Pete Wilson, Bruce Herchenson, Mayor Susan Golding, and Attorney General Dan Lungren.

SAESO The Student Alliance Embracing Sexual Orientation is dedicated to providing a safe environment to as– sist gay, lesbian, and bisexual stu– dents at USD to embrace their sexu– ality in a positive way. SAESO meets once a week to dis– cuss personal challenges, the his– tory of the gay, lesbian, and bisexual community, current events, coming out, homophobia, and many other topics related to the culture. Other meetings consist of gay, lesbian, or bisexua 1movies, trips to Hillcrest and West Holloywood, ~eakers, and social events ~ Clubs and Organizations
