Greenwich VISTA time
TheVISTA as you know it is changing. Over the last two or three semesters, the changes have been obvious:what started asa tabloid for campus press releases • asdeveloped into ameaningful forum for theexchange of information. You can see neincreasedrespectability for the VISTA inthatforthe first time inthe historyof the paper, advertising revenue exceeded the costsof production. What brought about thesechangeswere the actions ofa few dedicated individuals who persuaded the administration to allow credit to begiven 'orworking on the paper. The resultswere obvious.Anyone who has been here for morethana year or two can see that the improvement speaks for itself. Un- 'ortunately, this creative and investigative workby staff members has led toconflicts withthe administration. As a result, the VISTA has come under rather rigid administrative control. While the adminis- ''ationisn't looking to censor everything h at comesout of the VISTA, they are im- Pementingtheir authority to keep sensi- /e issues from being brought out. This "^akes it difficult to attract journalists in anytrue sense of theword as units can no •onger be earned. The administration's Policy certainly does not encourage volunteerism. The VISTA provides a crumforthe exchange of ideas, which is *tat college is allabout.
