Mentor Link Solutions: A Hybrid Mentorship and Knowledge Retention Model

After a thorough evaluation, the team agreed that the hybrid mentorship and knowledge retention

model was the most feasible and impactful plan. This section will outline the feasibility of the

program and the decision-making frameworks employed when selecting the solution.

Technical Feasibility

The hybrid model can be implemented using widely available platforms such as Microsoft

Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, or Google Workspace. These tools will support synchronous mentorship

interactions and asynchronous documentation processes that include uploading instructional videos and

linking procedural templates. This program is designed to fit with most engineering firms, so the goal is

to avoid investing in expensive proprietary tools and integrate the program into an organization’s

existing IT infrastructure. Utilizing existing IT infrastructure will significantly lower the technical barrier

to entry and make the solution adaptable to most organizations (Deloitte, 2024).

Operational Feasibility

From an operational standpoint, this solution is designed to scale across teams and

departments. The pilot phase is designed to focus on a single division of an organization, validating

mentor engagement, assessing the use of documentation, and adjusting workflows. After initial

validation, rollout can expand incrementally, making it manageable for organizations of any size. The key

will be deploying a program that allows for customization and iterative development. Teams should be

able to tailor mentorship roles, documentation formats, and short-term schedules to fit their workflow.

Flexibility will increase the likelihood of sustained participation and cultural buy-in.

The hybrid model is especially beneficial in volatile or high-turnover environments since the

model is the sum of its pieces. If mentorship or the knowledge retention tool becomes temporarily

available or sees a temporary lapse in buy-in, the other tool can carry the program.
