1. Introduction and Problem Motivation The purpose of the Smart Inventory Management System (SIMS) for the healthcare industry is to develop an innovative solution that enhances the efficiency and accuracy of inventory management within healthcare settings. By utilizing advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, and data analytics, the SIMS aims to automate inventory tracking, minimize waste, reduce costs, and ensure the availability of critical medical supplies (Bousselmi et al., 2024). This system will provide real-time data on inventory levels, expiration dates, and usage patterns, enabling healthcare providers to make informed decisions and streamline their operations. This project is crucial for enhancing patient care by ensuring the consistent availability of medical supplies, which improves health outcomes and operational efficiency in healthcare facilities. It addresses key challenges in inventory management from engineering, management, and leadership perspectives: engineers must develop scalable, reliable systems for seamless integration and data handling; administrators focus on resource allocation, cost control, and preventing shortages; and leaders need to foster innovation, embrace technological advancements, and promote continuous improvement to drive organizational change. Implementing the Smart Inventory Management System can thus optimize stock levels, boost staff engagement, and prioritize patient safety, resulting in significant benefits across the healthcare ecosystem (Bousselmi et al., 2024). 2. Problem Statement The healthcare industry faces significant challenges in inventory management, resulting in inefficiencies that can negatively impact patient care and increase operational costs.
