STRENGTHENED BY GIVING: FOUNDATIONAL SUPPORT FUELS USD LAW’S NEW EVICTION NEGOTIATION PROGRAM

Located in the San Diego Law Library across the street from the downtown courthouse, the USD Housing Rights Clinic’s new Eviction Negotiation Program provides free legal assistance to low-income tenants in eviction negotiation proceedings. Tenants, on the day set for their trial, are now able to receive free legal assistance in negotiating a resolution to the threat of eviction. During the first phase of operation for the Eviction Negotiation Program, services will be limited to trials scheduled on Mondays. As additional funding becomes available, the law school will expand the program to include additional days of service.

The launch of the Eviction Negotiation Program was made possible through generous support from Price Philanthropies. The foundation’s early-stage investment established USD’s Housing Rights Legal Clinic. The foundation’s additional support enables the expansion of services through the Eviction Negotiation Program. These efforts are well aligned with Price Philanthropies holistic approach to supporting basic needs in order to improve life opportunities for youth, families and their communities.
