Each day, hundreds of students, faculty and staff pass through Warren Hall, united in the University of San Diego School of Law’s mission. Among the donors who sustain that mission, law faculty invest directly in students’ success. Many graduates say that while scholarships eased the burden, as students, they did not fully grasp the time and resources behind a legal education. “While I was very grateful for the generous scholarships I received as a law student, I did not realize how much time and money it takes to sustain a law school until I started working in the legal research clinic,”

said Julianne Odin ’18 (JD), a law reference librarian at the Pardee Legal Research Center.

For many faculty members, especially those who are alumni, giving is both a gesture of gratitude and an example to follow. “Giving back enables us to do more. Helping students with the financial cost of law school enables students to have a grounded, practical experience in what it means to represent clients, and helps community members who cannot afford legal representatives a great attorney,” said Professor of Law Margaret Dalton ’94 (JD).
