A Message From President Mary Lyons The Univers ity of San Diego is very proud of the student-athl etes that represent our insti– tution on 16 men 's and women's NCAA Divi– sion-I athle tic teams. These are proud and seri– ous compe titors , honored to represent the Uni– versity. The dedication you witness on the play– ing fie lds, on the court, o n the course , or in the wa ter is grea tly matched in the classrooms, the laborato ri es , on stage, or in the community. More than a third of our student-athl e tes carry a grade-point average above 3.2 , and 11 of our teams have a cumul ative grade-point average above 3.0. Athle tics is vital to the Unive rsity of San Diego, a way students, faculty, staff and alumni come together as one community. I am both a university president and a Torero fa n ; I look fo1ward to sharing the excitement of Torero athle tics with our many fans.
