Saint Mary's has qualified for the tournament twice, most recently advancing to the second round in 1994, while San Diego advanced to the second round in their only appearance in 1996, in only the fifth year of the program. Women's soccer is one of 13 sports

1998 was another banner year for women's soccer in the West Coast Conference as the University of Portland and Santa Clara University both reached the Final Four - the second time in

Entering 1999, the WCC anticipates another successful year with Santa Clara and Portland registering in the top-five in virtually every pre-season women's soccer poll. All WCC members are private institutions with high academic standards and lofty athletic traditions.
