Cheryl Getz ~tCoach

Cincinnati, 1982 (6th season) Cheryl Getz enters her sixth season as chief assistant to USD Head Coach Kathy Marpe. Getz previously served as head coach at Eastern Michigan University for five seasons (1987- 91) prior to her arrival at Alcala Park. Getz's numerous coaching assignments have taken her to all parts of the country. After two seasons as a graduate assistant at Central Michigan, she became the assistant at the University of Dayton (1984-86) before moving on to George Washington University (1986-87) . A native of Cleveland, Getz earned Cum Laude honors at the University of Cincinnati, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Physcial Education in 1982. Getz was team captain for two seasons with the Lady Bearcats basketball team. She currently is working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership at USD. San Diego State, 1996 (2nd season) Lakeysha Wright enters her second season as a member of the USD coaching staff. Wright joined the program after a five-year run with San Diego State; four years as a player and one as a student assistant coach. Wright played with the Aztecs from 1991-95 and made a substantial impact. During her four year career, she helped lead SDSU to three NCAA Tournament appearances and back-to-back WAC titles. The Aztecs had a 87-31 record during her career. Wright ranks fourth all-time in San Diego State history in assists (358) and ninth in steals (153). She was named to the Western Athletic Conference All Defensive Team in 1995 and was an All-WAC Honorable Mention selection that same year. Also during her senior year she dished out 165 assists, a total that ranks seventh on the Aztecs' all-time single season assist chart. Wright is a native of Patterson, New Jersey and has a bachelor's degree in physical education received from San Diego State in 1996. T..akeyshaWright ~tCoach

Roland (Rollie) Marpe Administrative Assistant

(11th season) Roland Marpe is in his eleventh season with the USD program. For four seasons (1987-91) "Rollie" served as a volunteer assistant coach to his daughter Kathy. Marpe joined the Toreros' staff upon retirement from his automotive sales business, which he operated for 35 years in his native Minnesota. Prior to opening his Ford dealership, Rollie was a two-sport athlete at Louisiana Tech as part of the Navy's V- 12 program. He served as a reserve center on the 1944-45 Bulldog basketball team that competed in the NAIA Tournament in Kansas City, MO and also played end on the Tech football team. He has been married to his wife, Genevieve, for 51 years.
