A Message From President Hayes...
"As the president of the University of San Diego, this is my third Torero season. I am proud of the USD basketball team and pleased that the university supports the program in every way possible, including emphasis on scholarship assistance, aca– demic excellence, and promotion of intercollegiate athletics. Our student-athletes are winners on and off the court. They demonstrate the values that characterize a USD education - commitment, integrity, teamwork, disci– pline and respect for the dignity of all human beings. These are qualities that will help them throughout their lives. I am looking forward to the coming season and hope that you will join me in supporting our team. It's an exciting schedule and promises to be a great year."

JENNY CRAIG PAVILION Sid and Jenny Craig are giving $10 million to the University of San Diego, with $7 million directed toward construction of the Jenny Craig Pavilion, a multi-use sports and activities facility that will be the home of USD's Toreros sports teams. The pavilion, which will be located at the eastern end of campus between the football and baseball fields , will include a 5, 100-seat
gymnasium, administrative and coaching offices, classrooms, weight training and athletic training fa– cilities, showers and locker rooms, concession stands, a VIP reception room and an entry plaza that will take advantage of the view across campus to the ocean. The USD Athletic Hall of Fame will also be housed in the facility. "The Jenny Craig Pavilion is vital to the quality of life on campus," says Tom Iannacone, Director of Athletics. "It will have a positive and historical im– pact on many generations of students. It will also allow us to pursue championship venues for men's and women's basketball and women's volleyball." Other benefits the administration and coaches an– ticipate are the opportunity to attract television cov– erage of games, and to host West Coast Confer– ence tournaments, USD tournaments, and special games such as the Torero Tip Off, held the last few years at the San Diego Sports Arena.
