of Ohio at home followed by a doubleheader at UC Santa Barbara. The San Diego Classic II will be next for USD as the Aztecs and the Toreros bring in nine teams from across the country. The Toreros will play in five of the 14 games at the USD Softball Compl ex scheduled for March 12-15. The Toreros open up the tournament against University of Connecticut in the Thursday night cap, followed by the 7pm game on Friday against Iowa State University. They have the evening twin bill on Saturday against McElvain's alma mater Oklahoma State University at 4:30 p.m. and Quinnipiac at 7:30 p.m., and wrap up the weekend with a 2:00 p.m. match-up against Northern Colorado. With no other tournaments to participate in, and three weeks before conference play, the Toreros have scheduled a single game against Texas Tech on March 18, and a doubleheader against Univer– sity of North Dakota on March 19, UC San Diego in La Jolla on March 22, and Cal State San Marcos on March 27. On April 1, the Toreros square off against the Aztecs for a single game at home scheduled for 6:00 p.m. for the second and final meeting of the season between these two teams. USD will open up PCSC play on April 4-5 when they travel to Sacramento State.They return to the confines of the USD Softball Complex to host Port– land State University the following weekend. The coaching staff decided to add a mid-week double– header against Cal State Bakersfield on April 15. San Diego wi ll hit the road for two weeks when they face Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles on April 18- 19, and Santa Clara in the Bay Area on April 25-26. San Diego wraps up their 2009 campaign at home against PCSC opponent Saint Mary's on May 2-3.

Loyola Marymount PCSC Announces Expansion With Six Schools Set To Join Conference PORTLAND.Ore. - The Pacific Coast Softball Conference has extended invitations for conference membership to six schools: California State University Bakersfield, Idaho State University, University of Northern Colorado, Seattle University, Utah Valley University and Weber State University, PCSC Commissioner Wendy Guthrie announced in Fall of 2008. All six schools accepted their bids and will begin competing in the PCSC in 2010, joining charter members Loyola Marymount, Portland State, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Diego and Santa Clara to raise the conference's membership to 12 schools. "Really the most positive thing it does for us is it protects our conference;' commented head coach Melissa McElvain. "It adds a higher level of competition for us and we know that we're protected long term as avery strong competitive conference in different regions:' Starting with the 2010 season, the PCSC will split into two divisions, the Coastal and Mountain. The division winnerswill meet in a best-of-three championship series to determine the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament berth. The Coastal Division will consist of the sixCalifornia-based schools, Cal State Bakersfield, Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Diego and Santa Clara. Idaho State, Northern Colorado, Portland State, Seattle, Utah Valley and Weber State will form the Mountain Division. ~ "We are delighted to welcome California State University, Bakersfield, Idaho State University, University of Northern Colorado, Seattle University, Utah Valley University, and Weber StateUniversity as members of the Pacific Coast Softball Conference;'Guthrie said."At the forefront of this demion, ,. is the desire to increase opportunities for student-athletes and contribute to the development of NCAA Division I softball. The addition of aconfer– Portland ence championship series will enhance the student-athlete experience and heighten the visibility of the league. This is an intentional and strategic State step toward positioning the conference for sustainability and growth:' Cal State Bakersfield is in its third year of a five-year transition period from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I membership. The Roadrunners will become a full NCAA Division I member in the 2010-11 academic year. The Roadrunnerswere 22-25 this past season playing as a NCAA Division I Independent. In its final season at the NCAA Division II level in 2006, Cal State Bakersfield finished fourth in the nation. Idaho State resurrected softball for the 2007 season, after sponsoring the sport from 1976-1983. Northern Colorado is currently competing as a NCAA Division I Independent. The Bears are members of the Big Sky Conference in other sports, along with current PCSC members Portland State and Sacramento State, and future membersIdaho State and Weber State. Seattle went 38-14 last spring in its final year at the NCAA Division II level, reaching the NCAA Division II West Regional for the third straight season. The Redhawks will play as a NCAA Division I provisional member in 2009 and reach full-time Division I membership commencing with the 2013 season. Utah Valley also competes as a NCAA Division I softball independent and is in its sixth and final year of NCAA Division I Santa Clara University provisional membership status. Melissa McElvain enters her eighth year as USD's Head Softball Coach . In her first seven seasons as head coach, 24 athletes have earned PCSC All-Conference honors, including the 2004 (Rebekah Bradford) and 2007 (Jennifer Ellenbeck) PCSC Freshman of the Year and the 2006 PCSC Scholar Athlete of the Year (Sara Mason). Un– der McElvain's guidance, 44 student– athletes have earned All-Academic honors, including 27 student-athletes awarded PCSC Commissioner's Honor Roll honors, one PCSC Scholar Athlete of the Year, and a National Academic All-American 3rd Team (Sara Mason). Since the 2005-06 season, McElvain and the team have upheld a 100% NCAA academic progress rating. In 2008... The Toreros had a number of high– lights in 2008. Including a 6-4 victory over No. 17 ranked San Diego State on March 7 at the Diamond Devil Classic in Arizona . Nine opponents USD faced last season advanced to regional's. The Toreros set a number of team overall marks including a new high of 22 homeruns and overall hits with 376 to name a couple. In 2007... Coach "Mac" has made huge strides as she guided the Toreros to a record setting 2007 season. The graduating class in 2007 (Virginia Fritsch, Christina Haake, Alicia Massei, Danielle Treiber) tied or set new records in 12 different single season or career categories. As a team, San Diego accomplished 20 division one wins. They also recorded 24 overall wins, the most since the 2000 season . Coach McElvain also hit the century mark with her 100th career

What is the most memorable moment in your softball career? Playing in the Women's College World Series. It was a softball dream come true! I'd love to experience that as a coach. The 2006 season was more proof that the USD softball program is turning the corner and transforming the team into a competitive Division I program that could battle for that sought after bid to post season thanks to the efforts of Coach McElvain. In 2006, San Diego captured 22 wins for the first time since 2001. That year, USD also accomplished 18 division one wins. The Toreros also posted ten conference wins, the most in McElvain's history as the skipper for San Diego. Playing Days... A 1999 graduate of Oklahoma State, McElvain (formerlyTurley) earned All– Big XII honors while playing catcher and second base, as well as confer– ence honors. She ranks in the Top 20 all-time at OSU in several categories,

including games played, hits, total bases, doubles, RBI and stolen bases. McElvain led the Cowgirls to three post-season appearances and a third place finish in the 1998Women's Col– lege World Series. While at Oklahoma State, she earned All-Big XII academic honors while attaining a Business Administration degree with an em– phasis in Marketing. Additionally, she earned the OSU Community Service Contribution Award (1997-98); the NCAA Leadership Award (1998); and was a four-year SAAC Representa– tive, serving as SAAC President in her senior year.

Kim Aggabao begins her fifth season on the Torero staff. As the first assistant, Aggabao primarily works as the Infield and as Hitting coach. She also assists with recruiting and serves as the Camp Coordinator. Aggabao also contributes to the team's fundraising

efforts. She continues to coordinates and organize the fundraising efforts for softball including the program's 2nd annual Golf Tournament this past fall. Aggabao comes to USD from UC San Diego, where she graduated in 2004 as a Biology major with a minor in Sociology. She was a four-year starter as a middle infielder for the Triton softball team and was named team captain both her junior and senior year. Aggabao was also named first-team All California Collegiate Athletic Association three times, and was

the CCAA Most Valuable Player her senior season after leading the league with a .411 batting average, second-best in school history. She was also named to the All-West Region Second Team. Aggabao finished her career at UCSD hitting .312 and ranks in the top six all-time in six different categories. She also set the Triton record for most doubles in a season with 23. Off the field, Aggabao was a representative in the Triton Athletes Council, an organization that serves as a forum aiming to improve the quality of student-athletes' collegiate experience. Originally from Walnut, California, she is the daughter of Tony and Dolly Aggabao. She also has one older brother, Anthony (30), and a younger sister, Tricia (22), who graduated in 2008 from Stanford and played on the softball team.

Ramos is currently employed by the Department of Navy Human Resources Service Center Southwest located in Downtown San Diego as a Labor Relations Specialist.The primary mission of her division is to represent the Secretary of Navy in administra– tive proceedings, and to provide labor and employee relations advice and guidance for Navy commands in the Southwest, Northwest, Pacific regions, and in the greater metropolitan area of Washington, D.C.

What hobbies do you have?

I have three passions in life, my family, softball and horses. I have been riding horses since I was very young and they are one of the most amazing creatures on this planet, so whenever I get a chance, you wi ll always find me at the barn.
