TOREROS RUNNER-UP AT wees

At the 1994 West Coast Conference Tennis Championships USO fin– ished a distant second to Pepperdine. Held at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center at Pepperdine,Toreros Fredrik Axsater and Emmanuel Udozorh lasted until the quarters of singles before losing. Axsater defeated USF's Bill Thompson 6-1 , 6-0 in the second round and St. Mary's KeitaArisawa 6-2, 6-3, then lost to Pep's Ari Nathan 6-2, 4- 6, 6-3. Udozorh defeated Larry Olin of Santa Clara 6-3, 6-4, David Hong of USF 6-2, 6-1 , then lost to Pepperdine's Cary Lothringer 6-3, 6-2. Winning two rounds of singles were J .J . Shobar, Bobby Hrdina and Robbie Seward. In doubles all three Torero teams fell in the quarters. Tim Truebenbach and Udozorh lost to Pep's Hill and Sakamoto, Hrdina-Shobar lost to St. Mary's Arisawa-Noel and Axsater-Huarte lost to Pepperdine's Aspelin– Budgen. Final team standings: Pepperdine 108, San Diego 57, St. Mary's 41 , Santa Cla,3 26, San Francisco 22, Gonzaga 16, Portland 13 and LMU 12.
