Youthful Toreros Look To Continue Winning Ways

Head Coach Seamus McFadden, entering his 26th year directing the USD men's soccer fortunes, returns 15 players and 4 starters from last year's club that finished 12-4-4 and was a 2nd round NCAA Tournament participant. With the loss of eight seniors, including seven that started, McFadden will be looking for this returning group of Toreros to step up their production. Leading the way will be his two captains - senior midfielder Kevin Wilson (San Juan Capistrano, CA) and junior defender Tommy Von Bromsen (Gothenberg, Sweden). Wilson, who earned 2nd Team All-West Region honors and First Team All-WCC recognition, was one of USD's most consistent players a year ago. He finished with 2 goals and 2 assists while starting all 20 matches. Von Bromsen started 18 of 20 matches at sweeper where he helped the Toreros total nine shutouts. Rounding out the quartet of returning starters is sophomore keeper Lance Friesz (Laguna Nigel, CA) and sophomore forward Ryan Guy (Carlsbad, CA). Friesz, who ranked 24th in the nation in goals-against average (0.76), was named 2nd Team All-WCC. He recorded 8 shutouts on
