These are proud and serious competitors, honored to represent the Univer– sity. The dedication you witness on the playing fields, on the court, on the course, or in the water is greatly matched in the classrooms, the laboratories, on stage, or in the community. Lastyear thirty-eight percen t ofour student-athletes carried a grade-point average above 3.2, and ten of our teams had a cumulative grade-point average above 3.0. Athletics is vital to the University of San Diego, a way students, faculty,staffandalumni come together as one com– munity. I am both a university president and a To rero fan; I look forward to sharing the excitement of Torero athletics with our many fans.
