COMBINED EVENT CREATES 14-GAME HOOP FEST The ninth annual West Coast Conference basketball tournament tips off at Santa Clara University's Toso Pavilion on March 2-6 with the WCC's auto– matic bids to the men 's and women 's NCAA tournament at stake. For the first time , the WCC' s basketball tournaments are combined into one five-day, 14- game festival of hoops. This is the fourth time the women will pick their NCAA entrant via a tournament but the first time all eight schools will participate. All 16 teams take part beginning with the women's first round on Thurs– day, March 2, with two doubleheader sessions. Session 1 starts at 12 noon and Session 2 follows at 6:00 p.m. The second game of each doubleheader tips off 30 minutes after the conclusion of the preceding game. The women continue with their semi-finals on Friday, March 3, the only action of the day. The men get underway with four games on Saturday, March 4, starting

with a doubleheader at 12 noon followed by another twinbill at 6:00 p.m. The women's finalists take the day off. All men's and women 's semifinalists will be re-seeded after the first round so that the highest remaining seed will play the lowest remaining seed. Sunday features a unique tripleheader for one ticket price. The women 's championship game starts at 3:00 p.m. followed by the two men's semi-finals, all televised by SportsChannel. The men's championship tips off for a live ESPN national TV audience at 9:07 p.m. on Monday, March 6. CONFERENCE CALL ON FEB. 27 FOR BRACKETS, TIMES AND ALL-CONFERNCE TEAMS The tourney official bracket and game times will be announced via a media conference call on Monday, February 27, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The league also will announce the 1995 All-Conference teams and the men's eight coaches will be on the line to take questions from the media. TIE-BREAKER If there is a tie in the final standings between two or more teams, these steps will be followed to resolve the deadlocks and determine the tourna– ment seedings: 1) Best record in head-to-head confer– ence games between the two tied teams. 2) Comparison of the tied teams records against each other WCC member based on de– scending order of finish. 3) Coin flip . In the case of multiple ties within the standings, the tie that can be resolved by the earliest tie– breaker step will be broken first. The review will begin with the lower tie.
