1991-92 USO GOLF PROSPECTUS The 1991-92 season should be very interesting. This year's team has a balance of veteran players and several new shotmakers. The team's experi– ence lies in the hands of a trio of seniors - Dave Brown, Phil Isbell and Andy Crinella. Returning sophomores include Steve Brown, one of the 1990- 91 season's top scorers, and Greg Firko.

Transfer Lance Seymour and Hans Bergman are both strong contenders for a top spot on this year's squad. Joining this group are senior John Breznikar, sophomore Charles Campbell and freshmen Chad Buchanan, Ray Guidi, Jason Steuernagel and Dan Montgomery. The University of San Diego participates at the NCAA Di– vision I and is a member of the West Coast Conference (WCC). GOLF FACILITIES Stardust Country Club - Nearby Stardust Country Club remains the team's primary practice facility. The USD team is very fortunate in being able to play this beautiful 27-hole layout that is just blocks from our campus. These courses when combined to 18 holes offer a course of about 6,600 yards with a course rating of about 71.5 and a slope rating of 126. Stardust greens remain among the best in the county. The course was the site of the San Diego Open for several years. Steele Canyon Golf Club - USD has the recently granted privilege of playing this spectacular Gary Player Signature 27 hole course that lies in the hills of Jamul. The Canyon Nine changes elevations often and is very much a shot-makers challenge. The Ranch Nine makes its way through and around a working cattle ranch. The Meadow Nine is due to open in early 1992. The Canyon Nine is 3,206 yards from the Blue Tees; the Ranch Nine is 3,535 yards; and the Meadow Nine is 3,466 yards. The Canyon/Ranch course is rated at 72.2. Singing Hills Country Club - The USD Golf Team has playing privileges at the two courses at Singing Hills, which is located in a beautiful valley east of El Cajon (about 15 miles from campus). The 6,573 yard Willow Glen course and the 6,132 yard Oak Glen layou1 were re-worked several years ago by architect Ted Robinson. The course ratings are 71 .5 and 69.0. Bear Creek Golf Club - The USD team has the privilege of playing this Jack Nicklaus course in Murietta (about 60 miles north of San Diego) against the rolling countryside of the Temecula Valley. Bear Creek, home of the 1985 Skins Game, is a long 7,024 yards from the tournament tees that features multilevel greens, deep pot bunkers, and several lakes and streams. The course rating is 75.4. In addition to these fine courses, an on-campus area is available for medium and short iron practice.
