Marvin Banks, Jr. retu rns for his thi rd season in the Toreros' secondary at corner ... last season he ranked sixth on the team with 46 tack les (3 1 so lo) ... he posted a personal-best 8 stops in three di ffere nt games (Brown, Butler, Dayton) ... also chipped in with I QB sack (Dayton) and 3 tack les fo r losses (- 12 yards) ... prior to USO he prepped

PFL All-Academic Team ... prior to USO he prepped at Arrowhead Chri sti an Academy in San Bernardino where he was a two-time AII-C IF perfo rmer and team captain ... he helped lead the Eagles to two CIF ti tles, go ing 11 -3 his senior year and 14-0 hi s junior campaign ... junior year was CIF Defensive Player of the Year .. . he also lettered in baseba ll ... recruited by Redlands and Wheaton, he chose USO fo r its quality education and football program ... twin sister attends nearby Po int Loma azarene University ... Jason DeMello returns fo r hi s fo urth and fin al season as a defensive bac k ... last season started at comer where he ranked seventh on the team in tackles with 39 (26 so lo) ... a lso added I QB sack (-8 yards) and 4 pass breakups ... he earned a starting spot in 1999
and responded with 2 1 tackl es, 3 interceptions and 4 pass breakups ... during his fres hman campaign he tallied 6 tackl es in fi ve appearances ... Jason came to USO from Kaneohe, Hawa ii where he prepped at Kamehameha Secondary Schoo ls ... he was an All-State Ist Team defensive back with the team go ing 11-2 during hi s senior year ... he was selected Honorable Menti on hi s junior season with the team go ing I0-2 ... he a lso lettered in track & fie ld
