Lukas Smart returns for his 3rd year on the USO defensive line ... he is a projected starter and will be counted on to be a team leader ... last year started all 10 games, fini shing with 36 tackles (23 solo) ... also had team-best 6 quarterback sacks (-35), 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries .. . recorded 5 solo tackles in season-opener at Chico State ... tallied 6 tackles and 1 fumble recovery versus Cal Lutheran ... added 6 tackles and 1 quarterback sack at Saint Mary's .. . posted 2 1/2 sacks for -16 yards in win over Whittier College ... a native San Diegan whose hometown is Coronado, Lukas prepped at Coronado High School where he was team MVP, an All– Region Blue-Chip honoree and First Team All-League hi s senior year ... also lettered in track & field. Wade Van Dusen returns for his sophomore year after receiving some considerable playing time the second halfofhis freshman campaign at safety ... turned in 3 starts at end ofseason, finishing the year with 21 tackles (9 solo), 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass break-up and 1 interception .. he had 3 tackles to go with his interception in win overWhittier College ... in team's season finale he totaled 14 tackles (4 solo) in PFL game against Dayton ... from nearby El Cajon, California, Wade prepped at Granite Hills High School where he was All-Grossmont League his senior year at linebacker.
