John Martin has been a member of the USO athlet ic staff since 1975. He was the schoo l's first head women's vo ll eybal l coach. a post he held throuoh the 1989 season . and also oversaw the Recre~tion Department. As vol ley ball coach. he directed theToreros to three postseason appear– ances. incl uding a 4th place fini sh at the 1976

he held the titl e of Ass istant Sports Events Man– ager the past two years. A graduate of Saint Mary's Co llege (B.A. in Po liti cs, '96: M.A. 111 Sports Admini stration. '99), Reed also held athleti c department posi ti ons al Saint Mary's Co ll ege and with the West Coast Conference. . Besides overseei ne all home athl eti c event s, Reed will he lp oversee the management and marketing of the building to he lp bring in outside events like concert s, trade-shows, etc. Carl res ides in La Mesa. As Director of Athletic Fac ilities. Martin oversees all the sched– ulin o. fi e ld maintenance and purchasing. The past few years he was the dep;;.tment's key liason during the constructi on of the Je nny Craig Pavi lion. A oraduate of San Diego State (B .A. & M. A. 111 Hi story), Joh n resides in En~i nitas with hi s wif; Jane. They have two children: Eliza, a senior at USO, and son, Patri ck, a sen ior at San Dieguito High School. Joel Morgan Asst. Director ofAthletic Facilities Joel joined the US O athl etic department staff in Ju ly, 2000 where he will ass ist John Mart111 with ath letic faci lities. The past two years he served as a Graduate duties for such contests as the NCAA Wrestling Championships, NCAA Men's Gymnastic Championsh ips, and Big Ten Tennis Champi onships. Joel also obtained experience as an admin istrator for the 1999 NCAA Elite Eight and 2000 Sweet Sixteen Men's Basketball Tournaments. ~ Joel obtained hi s Bachelor o f Sc ience degree in Sports Manage- ment from the Uni versity of Iowa in 1997. cer, swimming and voll eyball programs. Prior to USC , Mike served as the Academic Adv isor for all 18 intercollegiate programs for Ca l Pol y San Luis Obispo for two years. He earned both hi s B.S. degree in Phys ica l Education ( 1993) and M.A. in Educati on, Counsel ing ( 1994) from Cal Poly. He was also a starting pitc her for the Mustangs baseball team that fini shed 2"'' in the Division II Coll ege World Series. Meeker is certifi ed by the National Strength and Cond iti oning Assoc iati on, and is also a leve l one U.S. Weightlifting Coach.
