The Un ive rsity of San Diego me n's baseball program had four players. two wit h San Diego ties, sign a National Letter of In– tent during the early signing period, it was announced by head coach Rich Hi ll . Join ing the USO baseba ll program beg inning in the Fa ll of 2001 will be three jun ior co llege transfers and one local prep star. The two players from San Diego include RHP Sean Warlop, a sen ior at Bonita Vis ta High Schoo l, and Zach Dobek, who pl ayed th is pas t season at Saddleback Commun ity Co ll ege. but prepped at San Pasqual High Schoo l in Escond ido, Ca li fo rni a. The two other JC tra nsfe rs inc lude RH P Chad Cummings of Saddl eback Com– muni ty Co ll ege and short stop Ben Quinto of Community Co ll ege of Southe rn Nevada. Sean Warlop. a 5- 11. 170 lb. RHP, earned First Team Metro the past two seasons at Bon ita Vi sta Hi gh Schoo l. Last season he talli ed I 10 stri keo uts in 92 innings. and fini shed with 10 wins and a 1.66 ERA . He was All -County 2nd Team (San Diego Un ion-Tri– /June). 2nd Team AII -CIF. and named to the All -Academic Team (San Diego Union-Tri/June). --sean has the potent ia l to se t numerous pitching reco rds here at uso.·· sa id coach Ri ch Hill. ··He throws 90 mph with a devastating la te break ing curve ba ll .
