Coach Molina is beginning his seventh season as assistant to John Cunningham. Jake's background prior to USD includes seven years of junior college coaching. He was head coach at Santa Monica College from 1974-77, before taking over the San Diego City College position from 1978 thru 1984. At San Diego City College, Jake led the '80 and '81 teams to the conference championship. The past three summers Jake managed the Spanish National Team. He will be the Spanish Olympic Team Manager for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. A native of San Diego, Jake graduated from UCLA in '71 with a degree in Physical Education and received his master's degree in Physical Education in 1972 from San Diego State. Jake and his wife Sherri have one son, Nathan, age 18. Assistant Coach GLENN GODWIN Coach Godwin also begins his seventh year as pitching coach for the USD Toreros. A 1982 graduate of USD with a degree in Business Administration, Glenn played for Coach Cunningham's '81 and '82 teams. In 1982, Glenn had a 14-4 record in 21 ap- pearances. Along with his 2.92 ERA, Glenn fanned 142 batters in 148 innings and is one of just nine Toreros to be named All- American. Godwin was drafted by the Oakland A's organization in 1982 and played A ball for 2 1/2 years between '82-84. Glenn completed his MBA at USD in May of 1987. The past five summers he has managed a baseball team in Sweden, with his squad being crowned the Swedish National Champions two times. Volunteer Assistant Coach RAY BUTLER Ray Butler begins his fifth season with the Toreros as a volun- teer assistant coach to John Cunningham. Prior to assisting the 1988 men's team, Ray was an assistant coach to USD's women's softball team in 1987. An avid softball player, Ray has managed and played in adult softball leagues the past 12 years. Ray has held a part-time position in the USD Business School as an economics instructor since 1978, as well as a teaching position in SDSU's Department of Economics since 1976. A 1968 graduate from Cal State Fullerton with a B.A. degree in Economics, Ray also has an M.S. degree in International Eco- nomics from UCLA (1969) and an A.B.D. in Economics from UC Riverside (1976). Ray and his wife Renate reside in the Clairemont area of San Diego.
