The University of San Diego has embarked on a major campaign designed to achieve the following objectives: • To develop the University of San Diego 's present academic strengths • To enhance USO 's service to present and future students . • To sustain the traditions of freedom inherent within independent higher education • To gain national prominence as the major independent University in the Southwest. Capital Needs In order to provide adequately for the needs of a student population at the projected 5,000 student level , these additional facilities are required: • An addition to the James S. Copley Library • A School of Business Administration Building • An Executive Conference Center • A Univers ity Center Endowment Needs Gifts are sought to provide perpetual income for three vital components of the University:

Angeles de Alcala In recognition of benefactors contributing or pledging $50,000 or more to the University since its founding, the Board ofTrustees established early in 1980 a society known as the Angeles de Alcala. At a Mass of Thanksgiving celebrated by Archbishop John R. Quinn of San Francisco on February 28 , 1980, fifty-five members of the society were received into membership. At a luncheon followini the Mass, members were presented with a bronze statue of an angel commemorating their extraordinary suppon of the University. A Mass of Thanksgiving for the Angeles de Alcala will be an annual tradition, with new members receiving special recognition at that time.
