Mother Teresa Coming to USO For Fr~e, Public Address i Stadium

Co-chair& Luba Johnston and Renee and Charles Taubman drew about 150 pals to the fund-raiser, which was designed specifically to raise a part of the $25,000 the center requires to produce an edu- cational videotape aimed at the prevention or early detection of breast cancer. The topic was ap- proached forthrightly by most of the evening's principals, including Charles Taubman, who said simply, "It's a problem that strikes every- one-no woman is safe." The cen- ter's programs and projects later were discussed by several of the guests who have been on the Stevens patient rolls. · However, and like so many · events that raise funds for difficult causes, this evening passed quite pleasantly. establish a San Diego-Ti juana chapter of Mother Teresa's mission. Every two years , Dr . Figueredo has met with Mother Teresa, requesting she dispatch sisters to minister among Tijuana's Impoverished residents. (For many years , Dr. Figueredo donated one day a week to a Tijuana clinic and free medicines.) In February of this year, four of Mother Teresa's Missiona- ries of· Charity began their special work in Tijuana. The nuns are supervising the construction of a shelter for homeless men in Tijuana, which Mother Teresa is expected to visit on Wednes- day, June 1 .
