Operation Smile is a foundation sponsored by the Nauonal City Rotary Club to operate on Mexican children who have cleft lips or cleft palates. Escandon, a Chula Vista resi- dent, is a member of the ational City Rotary Club. Angelica and her mother, Rosario Blanco, journeyed from their hometown in Sonora, Mex- ico, which is about 650 miles from San Diego, to get the free operation.
