Copley Connects Spring/Summer 2025

By Martha Adkins , Research and Instruction Librarian From its inception as an independent San Diego Catholic newspaper in 1912 to its establishment in 1937 as the official newspaper of the Diocese of San Diego, The Southern Cross documents the history of the Roman Catholic Church in the San Diego area. Along with local news, The Southern Cross also delivers a Catholic perspective on the national and international news of the day. We have digitized issues of this newspaper from 1958 to 1989, presenting the news of the diocese as it occurred during the second half of the 20th century.
