Mr. Forbes, who visited the local CWV units as representative of the national department, with headquarters in New York, en- closed his contribution with a let- ter addressed to the Most Rever- end Bishop, in which he praiser! the University Foundation Fund and the work of the San Diego County Chapter of the CWV in promoting the fund campaign as follows: I Pleased By Activity j "It has always been my personal conviction that the effectiveness of 1 any organization is measured by the part that it takes in the local projects of the community in which it finds itself. I was partic-1 ularly gratified to find that the San Diego County Chapter, as well as the individual posts in the Dio- 1 cese were taking a leading role in the campaign to put the UniYer- sity Foundation Fund over the top. "This is an exemplification of ' Catholic 4-ction in the finest sense of the word. It is through Catholic ' education that our yotmg people ; of today and tomorrow will be given the weapons with which to fight the atheistic ideology of ig· 1· norance and despair, Commw1- . is1n.' 1 Forbes, national

The cost of the San 1Diego schools is $135 for each I child in the lower grades and $165 for every student in the upper grades, he said.
