Environmental Action Group

The Environmental Action Group was formed at USO in the Spring of 1998. We work to increase

environmental awareness on campus and raise concern of

current environmental issues. In the past three semesters, the group has increased the number of recycle-bins on campus and is working to get more. Yearly events include Earth Day, the Fall 98 Environmental Exhibit and the USO Environmental Forum.

Amnesty International

Amnesty International is a non– profit organization that works worldwide to promote human rights and end all forms of human rights abuse. The USO chapter of Amnesty was started in the fall of 1998. Members worked this year to raise campus awareness of Amnesty and of the struggle for human rights worldwide. Events included awareness activities for International Human Rights Day and International Women's Rights Day, co-sponsorship of speakers,and events and petition and letter-writing campaigns.
