Secretary ofStudent Organizations fimanda Special As the director of Student Organiz– ations, Amanda was chair of the InterClub Council, made up of representatives from all clubs and organiz– ations. She advised clubs on how to get funding through A.S. dedicated and hard– working committee,as AS Special Projects and S.M.I.L.E. director, I have worked to put on programs to raise money for the S.M.I.L.E. scholarship fund and to .- benefit the San Diego community. and helped many new clubs get started. ICC's concerns were she was responsible for all activites involved with the running of club activites and the ways that they got their money. Thanks Amanda for a great year. Some events from the year include the Dating Game, Make a Difference Week, The Giving Tree, National Youth Service Day, And Spring fest. Sports Club Speakers As Sports Club Director, Shawn was responsible for taking the highly involved clubs on campus and making sure that they get funds from the University. His position allocated funds to all the sports clubs on As director of Speakers Burea, Joe Brinckle worked hard to bring the USD community a variety of lectures and programs that would interest the students and faculty. Coretta Scott King, Wife of Martin Luther King Jr., gave an inspirational talk to the student body one Sun– day afternoon in the Fall. Also Geanne White , mother of deceased Ryan White , came to talk to the University community during AIDS Aware~~s~ Week. J_oe did a great job of taking the activitie~ occurrmg on campus and making them 100 times better by bringing inspira– tional speakers like these to the lives of all of the studnets at the University of San Diego. campus that were not intercollegiate. These included Rugby, Men's and Women's Lacrosse ' Cheerleading, Roller Hockey, And many more. Sports clubs are a major part ofcollege life. We must keep them alive. Thanks to Shawn they were given another year in the sun. 124
