The Alcala Yearbook One year in one Voice

Every student of every school wants every yearbook to be cool, fun, and reflect the good times and memories of the past year. We all want pictures of us with our friends scattered through– out the hundreds of pages, and maybe even a funny quote or two to go along with them. Generally speaking, we all want the yearbook to be the best, or rather "perfect"--completely flawless. Finding a misspelled name or a mismatched face sends some of us through the roof. We spend hours pouring over these symbols of our– sel ves--a t our best and our worst-– these tangible momentos of yesteryear which we will cherish for the rest of our lives; and subconscious minute detail in them. Considering the yearbook is made for the student body, by the student body, it is only anticipated that we will have such high expectations for it.

However, so few of us truly realize just how much work is actually put into the yearbook each and every year. Dedication, determination, energy, and effort--not to mention a whole lot of time--are key factors in putting to– gether the yearbook. Many of us have other interests and priorities that we must take care of and keep on top of throughout the year. It is often diffi– cult to find the time and most efficient way to balance and organize every– thing from part-time jobs, keeping up with classes, and continuing a decent social life. The Alcala Yearbook experience in– volves a social skill that teaches one about patience, cooperation, and communication with people. The product results in a publication that marks another special year in the history of USD.
