Alpha Kappa Psi

A lpha Kappa Psi is a business fraternity that promotes professionalism, integri– ty, honesty, and comaradary. Alpha Kappa Psi is the nation's oldest and largest business fraternity. The fraternity hopes to further the individual welfare of it's members, foster scientific research in commerce, ac– counts, and finance, and to educate the public in order to appreciate and demand higher ideals. Alpha Kappa Psi speakers lecture on the to– pics of competition in global economy, the San Diego convention center, and property man– agement. The fraternity had fall rush in '89 and spring rush of '90 this year. Rush was suc– cessful in obtaining valuable additions to the fraternity. Some light hearted activities of Alpha Kappa Psi were a regional softball tournament held at use, and later in the year a regional volleyball tournament. American Humanics Student Association T he Humanics Association provides stu– dents with professional, curricular, and co-curricular opportunities to enrich the student's leadership potential in the youth and human service settings. The members of this organization are students who are interested in managing, concerned with social issues, they are involved in the community, and they have good leadership skills. Ed Taylor, an advisor to American Humanics, said, "Our organization is a strong cohesive group of students who are concerned with social issues." All members of American Humanics are minoring in leader– ship. One of Humanic's biggest events of the year is their fall retreat. On the retreat they concen– trate on leadership skills. Another big event for Humanics was the National Annual Confer– ence in Orlando, Florida. Six students from USD went to the conference at Disney World. USD was one of sixteen campuses represented. The conference concentrated on management skills. Here on campus American Humanics has such activities as monthly workshops and host– ing speakers.
