Team 7-11, and Team Pursuit. The celebrity riders were easily recognizable in their red, white, and blue jerseys. The USD Grand Prix Bicy– cle Race started the season for the WCCC (Western Collegiate Cycling Conference). It also in– cluded USCF (United States Cy– cling Federation) races. The last race of each day was a professional race. The prize for the profession– al races was $1000. Other races had cash prizes or medals. Student volunteers helped to run the weekend. They were said to have done a great job and were much more professional than in years past.
The third annual USD Grand Prix was held on campus February 10 and 11,. 1990. The Grand Prix was two days of Pro/ 1 Am and collegiate racing. The weekend's title sponsor was Apple Computers, and it's host was USD's AS. Andy Basque, a USD rider, feels the Grand Prix. "is a wonderful opportunity for USD students and San Diego residents to enjoy two full days of exciting world class cycling."
