GOLF The U.S.D. golf team competes with high hopes for improvement over last year. Father Dennis Ryan, former coach of the University High Dons, has ex­ uberated enthusiasm in his new position as Tor­ ero golf coach. He sees a promising future for our young, buttalented, team. The outstanding credentials of Bill Wansa, a re­ turning sophomore, show the caliber of this team. He played as number one man for three years for University High. His clutch play was instrumental in many University triumphs. Last year. Bill gained valuable experience in his initial exposure to major competition. Rick Heitzig is an important returning junior. His steady performance and aggressive play places him in the center of U.S.D.'s plans for this season. This is Chris Stahl's fourth year of collegiate play. He complements the youthful zest of the youngsters with the craft and guile of an establish­ ed veteran. His teammates appreciate his timely advice on the course. These stars form the nucleus of an impressive team that includes many other skillful players. To­ gether, they intend to leap back to recognition on our campus. Considering last season, they are certainly justified in believing that only better days lie ahead.
