The USD Spikers finished their first season as a NCAA Division 1 competitorwith a 10-14 record. Under the di­ rection of Head Coach John Martin, the team opened strongly and after defeating UC Irvine and USF, had moved their record to 8-4. At this point,the Toreros dis­ played close matches against UCSD, Fullerton, and UC Santa Barbara and saw their record fall below the .500 mark before rebounding against NAU to pick up their 10th win of the year. USD will say "Farewell and Thanks" to seniors Liz Edwards and Kathy Lehner. Returning players include juniors Cindy Hall, Lisa Maner, and Lori Robarge; sopho­ mores Cindy Wheat, Kim Crawford. Marcia McEvers, and Michele Rehrig; andfreshman Ellen Silber. Coach John Martin is extremely optimistic about the upcoming 1983 season. "We have the majority of the squad returning.
