SEMINARY

St. Francis Seminary is located onthe northeast end of the USD campus. Within this community are thirty men preparing for the Catholic priesthood. The seminary provides an environ­ ment where these men can discern a vocation to the priest­ hood. Theseminarian's daily schedule involves: Mass, commu­ nity prayer, classes and various apostolic works in the diocese. Seminarians are involved in Campus Ministry, the Associated Student Body and many other campus activities. SIGMA PI

Though only in existence at USD since March, the Sigma P fraternity has established itself asan activegroup committed to leadership and enthusiasm. As a starting colony, this chap­ ter had the largestpledge class of the Nation. They sponsored events suchas the Halloween Bash, JazzDay at the Bay, as well as organizing an escort service at night oncampus. SPANISH CLUB The purpose ofthe SpanishClub isto familiarize the stu­ dents with the languageand culture of the Spanishspeaking people. The meetings also provide an atmosphere in which it is easy to meet new friends and enjoy group experiences. The events organized by the clubthis yearhave included perfor­ mances by a Spanish pianist and poet, visits to an orphanage in Tecate, trips to Tijuana and Puerto Nuevo, and the traditional Mexican Posada at Christmas.
